Orlistat is a lipase inhibitor. When taken by mouth, Orlistat attaches to lipase receptors in the body which is enough to make you more sensitive to the") liver fat and increases the absorption of fat in your stomach. Orlistat can also be absorbed by your body which means less of the "bad" fat you are getting from the food - makes you feel fuller for longer.

Orlistat is not typically recommended for use in children below 18 years.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have ever used any other medicines or supplements, including those with other claims for such products. You should also tell your doctor if you believe you have a medical or recreational claim for any of the medicines in the product package.

Some medicines also have potential negative interactions with Orlistat.

    Alli-60-mg-Oral-Capsule

Orlistat is used to treat obesity. It belongs to a class of medicines called lipase inhibitors. These drugs work by reducing the absorption of calorie-laden fats from the small blood vessels that supply the digestive system with fluid. By preventing this breakdown, or absorption, of fat, these agents are used to assist in weight management. This medicine does not alter the amount of food or fat absorbed. This is due to the fact that these fat-blocking drugs do not affect your body's ability to process and supply the fats that are absorbed from the gut.

Orlistat is available as a brand name drug called Xenical. It is used to help people who are unable to take their meals containing about 30% of their diet. This drug may cause occasional skin rashes and itching. Redness or swelling is not a side effect of this drug. It is important to have a complete course of treatment of all weight-bearing efforts as determined by your doctor. Xenical should only be taken with food. Do not take this medicine if you are also taking diet control medicine such as fenofibrate or baiapine. You should not take this medicine if you are not getting weight loss results.
